The Jigawa deputy governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan, has been elected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Jigawa north-east senatorial district in the 2019 general elections.

The chairman of the electoral committee, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim, announced the results in Hadejia on Thursday, October 3, NAN reports.

We gathered that he said that Hassan scored 1,863 votes to defeat his close opponent, Alhaji Ahmad Garba, who polled 142 votes, while Hussaini Mohammed scored 44 votes.

Ibrahim said that 2,062 votes were recorded in the election, saying that 13 of the votes were invalid.

Speaking after the election, Hassan urged his opponents to accept the results in the interest of the party.
