Chairman of the awards committee, Yemi Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the nomination exercise— which opened on January 15 and closed on January 31, 2026—recorded impressive public participation.
“We wish to inform the general public that the announcement of nominees for the Independent Silver Jubilee Awards will be made on Monday, February 9, 2026,” Adebisi said.
He expressed appreciation to individuals and organisations that took part in the nomination process, adding that online voting will commence shortly after the nominees are unveiled.
According to him, the final winners will be honoured on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The ceremony, which will hold under the Royal Father of the Day, His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Arusa 1, will be broadcast live on Channels Television and News Central Television. The theme for this year’s edition is “Gamechanger: Breaking Barriers, Shaping Tomorrow.”
It will be recalled that the awards committee unveiled the programmes for the 2026 ceremony at a press conference held on January 14, 2026, at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos.
In a notable departure from previous editions, members of the public will participate in the voting process, while nominations will be evaluated by the Board of Editors, an independent jury, and other respected Nigerians to ensure credibility, fairness, and transparency.
The 2026 edition will feature about 25 categories, with three to five nominees per category, covering business, governance, and other critical sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Key categories include Man of the Year, Financial Sector Regulator of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement Award, among others.
