The 10th year anniversary of Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone OGFTZ was yesterday 26th November ,2019 organised by the entire management and staff of the Free Trade Zone in Igbesa,Ado/Odo Ota local government Area of Ogun State.The Anniversary was overwhelmingly attended by local and international investors and personalities .The event was graced by His Excellency Dr Prince Dapo Abiodun mfr the executive Governor of Ogun State as a Special Host of the Occasion.
In his address,Governor Dapo Abiodun, congratulated the Chairman,management and staff of the OGFZT which comprises of over sixty two companies at the occasion.The incumbent Governor , lauded and commended specially the former Governor of the state, H.E Otunba Gbenga Daniel for the historical concepts of OGFZT and Olokola FTZ established by his administration as a veritable platform and catalyst for socio-economic and industrial development of any nation.The Governor stressed his administration unwavering commitment, in facilitating all policies and actions for the creation of more enabling environments that will encourage employment generation,capacity building,poverty alleviation, job creation and local patronage among others.He urged all stakeholders of Free Trade Zone to keep the flag flying and uphold the tenets of international best practices, innovations and corporate social responsibility to the host communities,as a worthy investors in Ogun state.
The Special Guest of Honour of the event was His Excellency,Prof Yemi Osinbajo ,Vice President of Federal Republic of Nigeria( GCON SAN),ably represented by H.E, Hon Niyi Adebayo former Governor of Ekiti State and current Minister of Industry,Trade and Investment, who on behalf of the Vice President, acknowledged the former Governor of Ogun State Otunba Gbenga Daniel as the initiators of critical transformational economic growth project of OGFZT.He lauded the viability and economic importance of the projects and promised to facilitate adequate supports for continue success of the Free Trade Zones in accordance with H.E President Muhammad Buhari transformational agenda.The chairman of the Occasion, Hon Yusuf Buba Yakub,Chairman House Committee On Foreign Affairs who had earlier gave his speech gave credence to The Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone project as one of the success stories of Nigeria-China expanding diplomatic and socio economic relationships.He encouraged the China-Africa Investment FZC Operators and managers of Free Trade Zone to draw atleast 200 more Chinese Corporations and companies for signing up into direct investments in Nigeria.
In reaction by Mr Chu Maoming, Consul-General of the Republic of China and also collaborated in the address of the Prof Zhu Layi,President of Guangdong New South.They both appreciate Federal Government of Nigeria, Ogun State Government and the former Governor of Ogun State OGD for their tremendous supports and tenets enterprises for investment greatness of OGFTZ that has created over six thousands jobs.They promised to continue to develop and manage OGFZT so as to boost the local manufacturing industries and create more jobs for local residents.
Also in attendance were Alhaja Salmot Badru former Deputy Governor of Ogun State,Prof Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka,Senior Special Adviser on Industrialization to the President of African Finance Development Bank AFDB,Miss Yosola Akinbi Senior Special Adviser to the Vice President of Nigeria,,Royal Fathers,Ogun State Commissioner of Police Diplomats,Captains of industries, Conglomerate of Chinese investors other international and local dignitaries.
