Chairman of Sifax Group, Taiwo Afolabi, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and residents of Ogun State for the successful delivery and commissioning of the Gateway International Airport.
Afolabi described the project as a landmark achievement poised to unlock significant economic opportunities, attract both local and foreign investment, and reinforce Ogun’s status as a major industrial and commercial hub in Nigeria.
In an interview, the Sifax boss noted that the launch of the airport alongside Gateway Air signals a new era for transportation, trade, and tourism in the state. He emphasized that the infrastructure would enhance the seamless movement of goods and passengers while generating thousands of jobs, particularly for young people.
According to him, the airport and its supporting facilities—including a modern cargo terminal—will catalyze growth across key sectors such as logistics, aviation, agriculture, hospitality, and real estate. He added that the development positions Ogun State as a prime destination for investors seeking expansion opportunities.
Afolabi also commended Governor Abiodun’s commitment to infrastructure development, describing his leadership as forward-thinking and impactful. He noted that the administration’s focus on roads, power supply, agriculture, security, and transportation aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
President Tinubu, who was present at the commissioning, also unveiled Gateway Air as part of the state’s broader development drive. Other projects inaugurated include a cargo facility at the airport, a 30MW Independent Power Plant near Ewekoro, major road networks, and new public service assets such as ambulances, security vehicles, tractors, and electric bikes.
Afolabi stressed that the Gateway International Airport will significantly improve the ease of doing business in Ogun State while strengthening its reputation as a leading industrial destination.
He urged residents to safeguard the new infrastructure, expressing optimism that the project would drive long-term prosperity, reduce unemployment, and elevate living standards across the state.
