9mobile, one of Nigeria’s most iconic telecom brands, has reintroduced itself to the world as T2—ushering in a bold new era that fuses connectivity, culture, and creativity for a rising generation. This rebrand is more than a name change, it’s a cultural shift. T2 blends fast, reliable connectivity with the vibrancy of lifestyle, music, fashion, and youth expression, positioning itself as a partner in the bold lives and big dreams of Nigerians.
The transformation follows the 2023 acquisition of 9mobile by Lighthouse Telecoms, led by investor Thomas Etuh, and a strategic turnaround powered by visionary leadership and bold partnerships. A landmark infrastructure-sharing agreement with MTN Nigeria has already expanded T2’s network coverage, capacity, and resilience nationwide. “T2 is a new vibe, a new rhythm, and a new way of connecting,” said Obafemi Banigbe, CEO of T2. “From fashion to music, from hustle to content creation, T2 is more than a telco—it’s a cultural partner.” Minister for Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, urged T2 to see this as a deeper commitment: “Let this rebrand be a renewed promise of innovation, service excellence, and impact for millions of Nigerians. The future belongs to those who embrace change before it’s forced upon them.

” Lagos State Government, represented by Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, welcomed the move, “T2’s mission aligns with our digital economy agenda, fostering creativity, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment.” Rolling out through high-energy brand experiences, influencer collaborations, and youth-driven storytelling, T2’s identity is anchored in Fast Connectivity, Smart Lifestyle, Creative Energy, and Trust. It aims to power everyone—from content creators and gamers to entrepreneurs and everyday hustlers—becoming the digital heartbeat of a generation. “This isn’t just a relaunch,” Banigbe added. “It’s a movement—and Nigeria is invited to live it.”
