Nigeria Economic Reforms 2025

The Federal Government forecasts Nigeria economic reforms 2025 will yield tangible benefits, citing the record-breaking 2025 budget as a catalyst for growth

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, has declared that 2025 will mark the year when President Bola Tinubu’s transformative reforms will begin to deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.

Minister Mohammed Idris made this assertion during a Ministerial Press Briefing in Abuja, addressing the economic challenges faced since the administration’s inception.

Since May 2023, Nigerians have grappled with economic hardships stemming from policies like the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of the foreign exchange market.

Further challenges include the approved 50 per cent increase in data and call costs, and planned electricity tariff hikes for non-Band A customers.

Despite these challenges, Idris reaffirmed the government’s commitment, stating that the reforms, aimed at fostering economic growth, infrastructure improvement, and national security enhancement, will begin to show concrete results in 2025.

He emphasized the significance of President Tinubu’s signing of the N54.2 trillion 2025 budget, the largest in Nigeria’s history, as a testament to the administration’s dedication to economic growth, national security, and infrastructure development.

“The signing of the N54.2 trillion budget by President Bola Tinubu, the largest in Nigeria’s history, testifies to the administration’s commitment to economic growth, national security, infrastructure development, and human capital advancement,” Idris stated.

“The 2025 budget is not just a financial document; it is a bold statement of intent—a roadmap for economic resilience, social stability, and national progress,” he added.

According to Idris, “This year, 2025, is set to be the year of consolidation — a year when all the transformative reforms initiated by President Tinubu’s administration begin to yield tangible benefits in the lives of Nigerians.”

The budget prioritizes security, infrastructure, education, health, solid minerals, agriculture, and other key sectors crucial for the country’s socio-economic development.

Idris assured that the Federal Government remains committed to the efficient implementation of the budget to maximize its impact on citizens’ lives.

Idris also commended the Nigerian media for their coverage of the Ministerial Briefing Session.

Ministers Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment) and Senator John Owan Enoh (State, Industry, Trade and Investment) provided updates on their ministries’ achievements during the briefing.
