Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, on Monday appeared before the Kaduna State High Court as proceedings resumed in his ongoing trial filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
El-Rufai is being tried alongside Amadu Sule over allegations of abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage, among other offences.
Moments before entering the courtroom, the former governor was overheard discussing the upcoming convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with an associate, signaling his continued political engagement despite the legal battle.

“So tomorrow is our convention, right?” El-Rufai asked. His associate responded, “God willing,” hinting at preparations for the party’s next major gathering.
In a related development, El-Rufai is also facing a separate 10-count charge before the Federal High Court in Kaduna. The charges include alleged abuse of office, money laundering, and fraud involving N579.6 million and $1.1 million.

The ICPC filed the charges as part of its broader anti-corruption enforcement efforts.
A bail hearing in the case has been scheduled for April 14, as legal proceedings against the former governor continue to unfold.
Details are expected to emerge as the trial progresses.
