Tony Azeigbemi, Chairman of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee, made the demand at a press briefing in Benin City on Tuesday.

He specifically called for the immediate removal of Dr. Anugbum Onuaha, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), and several Electoral Officers (EOs) accused of compromising the credibility of past elections.
“We cannot allow such a tainted official to oversee the forthcoming by-elections,” Azeigbemi stated firmly, referencing allegations of irregularities that marred the 2024 governorship poll.

The affected constituencies include **Edo Central Senatorial District and Ovia Federal Constituency**. The PDP insists that INEC must act urgently to rebuild public trust.
The party also named specific local government areas Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, Egor, Etsako West, Etsako East, and Akoko Edo where electoral officers must be barred from the by-elections due to their roles in the last election cycle.
Reiterating the party’s commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections, Azeigbemi urged security agencies and INEC to guarantee voter safety and electoral credibility.
He encouraged Edo citizens to remain vigilant and participate actively in the process.
