Debbie Shokoya Slams Viral Claim Linking Her to Obesere as Father

Nollywood actress and producer Debbie Shokoya has firmly denied viral reports alleging that Fuji music star Abass Akande Obesere is her biological father.

In a video posted on her Instagram page, Shokoya expressed frustration over the circulating claim, describing it as completely false and misleading. She stressed that she has never met Obesere and did not make any of the statements attributed to her.

“It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father?” she said.

The actress questioned the origin of the rumour, criticising bloggers and social media users for spreading unverified information without proper fact-checking.

Shokoya also lamented that the false narrative had sparked a wave of online abuse directed at her, with many commenters reacting to the fabricated story without confirming its authenticity.

“Obesere is not my biological father.

Please stop spreading fake news! Stop writing or posting things I never said,” she added.

Calling for responsibility in digital reporting, the actress urged bloggers to correct the misinformation with the same urgency used in amplifying it.

“I’ve never said or written this, nor did I cry out as they claimed. Bloggers should also post this video the same way they were quick to jump on that misconception,” she stated.

Shokoya concluded by appealing to the public to disregard the rumour and verify information before sharing, as misinformation continues to spread rapidly across social media platforms.
