APC Debunks Crisis Claims in Enugu, Dismisses Stipend Controversy as “Fabricated”

The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly dismissed reports of internal discord within its ranks, labeling the claims as false, misleading, and intended to create division among members.

In a statement released over the weekend, the State Publicity Secretary, Chief Uche Obute, refuted allegations circulating in some online platforms that delegates at the party’s recent national convention were not paid stipends. He described the report as entirely baseless.

According to the statement, “The report alleging nonpayment of stipends is an outright falsehood, a deliberate distortion of facts, and a figment of the writer’s imagination.”

The party further accused the publishers of the report of attempting to destabilise its structure through misinformation. It noted that the story relied on unverifiable anonymous sources and was crafted to sow discord and distract members from the party’s ongoing activities.

APC urged the public to disregard the claims, maintaining that its delegates remain loyal, satisfied, and confident in the party’s transparent leadership at both state and national levels.

Addressing separate allegations of mass resignations within the party in Enugu State, the APC described such claims as unfounded and detached from reality. It also rejected assertions of exclusion and marginalisation among members.

Highlighting what it called increasing unity within the party, the APC credited the leadership style of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for fostering inclusiveness. The party noted that both longstanding members and new entrants are being effectively integrated into its structure.

It added that leadership positions across wards, local government areas, and the state level have been fairly distributed, ensuring broad representation within the party.

Reaffirming its stability, the APC commended the efforts of the state chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, stressing that the party remains united and focused on governance.

The statement concluded that no amount of propaganda or misinformation would derail the party’s progress in Enugu State.
