Pan African Agricultural Journalists Election sees Abdallah el-Kurebe, SDNON Registrar, elected President, aiming to boost African agricultural reporting
Journalists from across Africa, representing the Pan African Agricultural Journalists (PAAJ), have elected Abdallah el-Kurebe as their new President. El-Kurebe, Registrar of the Society of Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria (SDNON) and Editor-in-Chief of ASHENEWS, secured the position unopposed, reflecting widespread confidence in his leadership.
The election, conducted by the PAAJ Electoral Committee, also saw the election of other key executive members. Beene Mujala of Zambia was elected as Treasurer, and Amadou Jallow of Gambia assumed the role of Assistant Secretary.
Jean Baptiste Musabyimana of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) defeated Daud Abdi Daud of Somalia to become Vice President, while Pojoley Essonana of Togo edged out Williams Moi of Uganda to secure the position of Secretary-General.
Dawda Bayo, Chairman of the PAAJ Electoral Committee, announced the results on Tuesday.
El-Kurebe brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He previously served as PAAJ’s Vice President from 2022 to 2024 and acted as President from October 2024 to February 2025, following the resignation of Jefferson Massah.
His tenure in these interim roles demonstrated his dedication to strengthening agricultural journalism across the continent.
