Court Orders Final Forfeiture of Aisha Achimugu’s N9bn Assets to Federal Government

Justice Jude Onwugbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of assets linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu to the Federal Government.

The ruling followed an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which sought permanent forfeiture of the properties as part of its asset recovery proceedings.

The assets covered by the order include jewellery valued at N4.645 billion, 11 exotic vehicles worth N4.293 billion, $50,000 in cash, and N30 million in cash.

Justice Onwugbuzie granted the final forfeiture order on Thursday, July 16, 2026, effectively transferring ownership of the listed assets to the Federal Government.

The court’s decision followed an earlier legal process in which the EFCC obtained interim orders before seeking permanent forfeiture of the identified properties.

According to the anti-graft agency, the luxury vehicles, jewellery and cash formed part of the assets presented before the court during the forfeiture proceedings.

The EFCC has consistently pursued asset recovery cases involving individuals and organisations where it alleges that assets were acquired through proceeds of unlawful activities, using forfeiture proceedings to recover such properties where approved by the courts.

With the latest ruling, the forfeited assets are now officially under the control of the Federal Government. Further details on the court’s reasoning and the EFCC’s submissions are expected when the full judgment is released.
