Tinubu’s N12bn Lifeline: First Lady Launches Massive Aid for Northern Muslim Households

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has launched the distribution of N12 billion worth of palliatives to Muslim households across northern Nigeria, covering all 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The initiative, flagged off in Kaduna, comes months after a similar intervention benefitted Christian communities in the region in December last year. According to the First Lady, the distribution will be coordinated through established state committees to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Mrs. Tinubu described the programme as part of the broader social welfare agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at supporting vulnerable Nigerians amid ongoing economic reforms. She noted that the intervention reflects the administration’s commitment to both immediate relief and long-term national development.

Emphasising inclusiveness, the First Lady said the current rollout seeks to balance earlier support extended to Christian communities, reinforcing unity and fairness across religious lines. She called on citizens to embrace peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, stressing that national unity remains key to overcoming challenges.

She also urged religious and community leaders to continue promoting harmony, while appreciating Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders for their sustained support for the administration.

As part of the rollout, Mrs. Tinubu announced the distribution of 100 trucks of rice valued at N1.2 billion, expressing hope that the aid would ease hardship for beneficiary families. She also extended advance Eid-al-Adha greetings to Muslim faithful.

Governor Uba Sani commended the initiative, describing it as a reflection of compassionate leadership. He said both the President and First Lady have demonstrated commitment to citizens’ welfare through targeted interventions.

Similarly, Mai Mala Buni called on Nigerians to support the administration, noting that national progress depends on unity and stability. He highlighted the importance of collective effort in navigating economic challenges and urged citizens to balance their rights with civic responsibilities.
