“Trump Hails Daring Rescue of US Airman Amid Escalating Iran Strikes on Gulf”

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that US forces had successfully recovered a second airman downed in Iran, describing the mission as “one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. history.”

The announcement coincides with renewed missile and drone attacks by Iran targeting Israel and Kuwait, just one day after Trump gave Tehran 48 hours to cut a deal or face “all Hell.”

“This brave warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted by our enemies,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine. This miraculous operation follows a successful rescue of another pilot yesterday, which we kept under wraps to protect the mission.”

The conflict has spread across the Middle East, impacting global energy markets. Iran continues to exert control over the Strait of Hormuz and has targeted economic sites in neighboring Gulf states, while US and Israeli strikes in southwestern Iran have killed at least five, according to local officials.

Trump reiterated his warning on Saturday, referencing a March 26 ultimatum for Iran to “MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT.” Iranian military officials dismissed the threat as “helpless” and “unbalanced,” warning that “the gates of hell will open for you.”

Air defenses in Kuwait, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates were activated Sunday following Iran’s latest attacks. Bahrain reported a refinery fire linked to Iranian aggression.

Concerns Over Bushehr Nuclear Plant

A strike near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear facility killed a guard and prompted Russia to evacuate 198 personnel, condemning the attack as “an evil deed.” Iranian officials warned that further strikes could cause radioactive fallout threatening Gulf states, while the IAEA confirmed no rise in radiation but voiced deep concern. Former IAEA chief Mohamed El-Baradei urged Gulf nations to act before the conflict escalates further.

Economic Targets Under Fire

Recent strikes have increasingly targeted economic and industrial infrastructure. US-Israeli attacks on Iran’s petrochemical and trade facilities on the Iran-Iraq border killed at least one person. Iran has retaliated with missiles and drones across the Gulf. Debris from intercepted drones in Bahrain injured four, while in Dubai, two buildings, including a US Oracle office, were damaged.

In Lebanon, Israel has struck more than 3,500 targets in the past month amid fighting with Iran-backed Hezbollah, and has warned of further attacks near the Syria-Lebanon border. Meanwhile, Israelis staged protests in Tel Aviv demanding peace talks.

The US-Iran confrontation continues to escalate, with global economic stability and regional security hanging in the balance.
