Oluwo Urges Trump to Apologise Over Iran Conflict, Warns of Global Economic Fallout

The Oluwo of Iwo, Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has called on United States President Donald Trump to apologise for his handling of the ongoing tensions involving Iran, warning that failure to do so could undermine global leadership credibility and worsen economic instability.

In a personally signed statement, the monarch said it was not too late for Trump to take responsibility by offering an apology to Iran and its leadership, even as he reaffirmed his admiration for the United States.

Describing America as a nation built on justice and credibility, Akanbi noted that past leaders had worked to uphold its integrity. He, however, expressed concern that the current situation—particularly the conflict involving Iran and Israel—poses a significant test of leadership for the U.S.

According to him, an apology to Iran and key allies, including members of NATO, could help restore confidence in America’s global leadership, amid growing strain in international relations.

“The world needs decisive and responsible leadership. A good leader admits mistakes and takes corrective steps,” he stated.

Akanbi further warned of the far-reaching economic implications of the crisis, stressing that prolonged tensions could deepen global instability and negatively impact economies worldwide.

He urged world leaders to prioritise dialogue over confrontation, cautioning against decisions driven by personal ego.

“The global economy should not suffer due to ego-driven actions. The world is too fragile for that. Dialogue remains essential, and peaceful coexistence is critical for global survival,” he added.
