Obasa Leads Massive Interfaith Prayers as Tinubu Clocks 74, Urges Support for Renewed Hope Agenda

The Police College Ikeja came alive on Saturday as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, led a large interfaith prayer session in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of his 74th birthday.

The event, organised in collaboration with The Mandate Movement (TMM), drew a diverse crowd of political leaders, party loyalists, religious clerics, and community stakeholders from across Lagos and beyond. Though the president’s birthday falls on March 29, organisers opted for an early celebration marked by prayers and reflections on national development.

Addressing attendees, Obasa described the gathering as more than a birthday celebration, noting it was a moment for collective supplication for Nigeria’s peace, unity, and sustained progress. He emphasised the need for divine guidance for the president as he continues to steer the nation’s affairs.

He praised Tinubu as a pragmatic and visionary leader whose policies are reshaping Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape. The Speaker urged Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora to remain committed to the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Obasa also highlighted key government initiatives, including the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said has strengthened state revenues, and the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, describing it as transformative for young Nigerians seeking higher education. He further pointed to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a landmark infrastructure project expected to boost economic growth and tourism.

In addition, he commended the efforts of the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, particularly her Renewed Hope Initiatives, which focus on food support, women’s empowerment, and digital education.

The Speaker noted that the large turnout reflected the widespread support and loyalty President Tinubu enjoys, urging Nigerians to sustain that backing through the 2027 general elections to consolidate ongoing reforms.

Also speaking, former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, lauded Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to national progress, calling on citizens to rally behind the administration to ensure the success of its reforms.

The session featured prayers from both Islamic and Christian clerics, who offered fervent supplications for the president’s health, wisdom, and continued leadership, as well as for Nigeria’s stability and prosperity.
