Voting commenced on a slow note in Kuje Area Council on Saturday following the late arrival of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at several polling units.
As early as 7:30 a.m., electoral officials were yet to arrive at the first four polling units visited, despite voters and security personnel assembling from about 7:00 a.m. in readiness for the exercise.
At the Kuchiyako Primary School polling unit, no INEC official was present as of 7:30 a.m., leaving voters waiting to begin accreditation.

A similar situation was observed at the polling unit located at the Chief’s Palace, where residents gathered but electoral materials and officials had not yet arrived.
INEC officials eventually arrived at about 7:40 a.m. at the polling unit behind the Area Council Secretariat in Kuje, enabling preparations for accreditation to commence as voters waited patiently.

The delayed start raised concerns among some residents, although the process gradually picked up once officials and materials were in place.
