Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has called for sustained grassroots engagement and increased participation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration exercise as part of efforts to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
Obasa made the call on Wednesday, January 14, while hosting constituents, party executives, and supporters at his constituency office in Agege. The Speaker, who has represented Agege Constituency I since 2003, commended party members for their loyalty, commitment, and active involvement in the ongoing e-registration process.

Describing the exercise as critical to the growth and credibility of the APC, Obasa urged members to not only register but also mobilise others within their communities to do the same. According to him, a robust and inclusive membership base is key to building a formidable political platform capable of sustaining electoral success.
“The e-registration empowers us to strengthen our party structure and deepen internal cohesion. It is important that we register now and encourage more people to participate,” he said.

The Speaker also charged councillors and other elected officials to maintain regular contact with grassroots groups, including Community Development Associations (CDAs), landlord associations, religious leaders, market women, and trade groups. He noted that such engagements remain vital channels for understanding community needs and assessing the impact of government interventions.
Obasa, known for advocating accessible and people-centred governance, warned against limiting interactions with constituents to election periods alone. “We should not wait until election time before engaging the people. Constant interaction helps us understand their challenges and respond effectively with responsible leadership,” he stated.
He added that continuous engagement fosters trust, promotes peaceful coexistence, and enables early identification of pressing issues, while also strengthening the political growth of elected officials through regular interaction with party leaders and ward executives.
Reaffirming his commitment to sustained grassroots mobilisation, Obasa assured supporters of his readiness to continue building a more united and resilient APC. “Together, we will keep building a stronger and more united party,” he said.
