Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, over a nine-count criminal charge bordering on assault, theft, causing bodily harm and resisting arrest.
The charges, filed on Monday, stem from an incident that allegedly occurred at the singer’s bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State on New Year’s Day.

According to the charge sheet, Portable is accused of physically attacking his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple, alongside several police officers who reportedly responded to the scene. Among the officers allegedly assaulted is a female inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi.
Other alleged victims listed in the case include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi and Ebuka Odah.

The singer is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at N12 million, said to belong to Ileyemi Damilola.
During proceedings, two siblings of Ashabi Simple testified as prosecution witnesses, although the complainant herself was absent from court.
The presiding judge declined to grant Portable bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer, and ordered that the singer be remanded in custody until January 19 for further hearing.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command disclosed that it has launched an investigation into a viral video circulating online, which shows Portable allegedly being assaulted while in police custody.
