Yewande Adekoya Opens Up on 2013 Miscarriage, Says Experience Deepened Her Faith in God

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Yewande Adekoya, has shared a deeply emotional account of a miscarriage she experienced in 2013, describing the ordeal as a defining moment that strengthened her faith in God.

The actress made the revelation in a heartfelt video posted on her verified Instagram page on Saturday, where she recalled how her first pregnancy took a tragic turn after she began bleeding heavily and was rushed to the hospital.

According to Adekoya, doctors confirmed that she had lost the pregnancy and informed her that an evacuation procedure would be required the following morning. The news, she said, left her devastated, frightened and overwhelmed by physical pain.

She explained that the fear of the medical procedure compounded her emotional distress, especially as it was her first experience with pregnancy.

After being given medication, the actress said she eventually fell asleep and had a vivid dream in which a man dressed in white, whom she described as resembling a doctor, appeared and informed her that it was time for the evacuation procedure.

Adekoya recounted that the procedure was completed in the dream, after which she woke up during the night and felt a sudden physical sensation that prompted her to rush to the bathroom.

She said the miscarriage completed itself naturally without medical intervention, with hospital staff later assisting her and conducting medical checks.

“When the doctors came and did a scan, they said there would be no need for an evacuation because the baby was no longer there. Everything had come out on its own, and I was fine to go home,” she said.

Reflecting on the experience, Adekoya described it as a powerful spiritual encounter that shaped her unwavering belief in God.

She maintained that while God’s ways may not always be understood, she believes they are purposeful and rooted in kindness.

“I cannot come out and say there is no God because I have experienced things that are not ordinary. There is God, and He is faithful,” the actress concluded.

Her emotional testimony has since sparked conversations online about faith, loss and the personal journeys many women endure in silence.
