Ebonyi police arrest 131 suspects for armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder, while rescuing two kidnap victims in Ikwo LGA, says CP Uche-Anya
Ebonyi police arrest 131 suspects in a sweeping crackdown on crime, the State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Adaku Uche-Anya, announced on Thursday in Abakaliki.

The arrests, carried out between July and mid-August, involved suspects linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, and crisis instigation. Of the 131 suspects, 120 are male and 11 female.
Highlighting the command’s recent achievements, Uche-Anya disclosed that two kidnapped students were rescued in Ikwo Local Government Area on August 14.
She also noted that Ebonyi, being an agrarian state, often suffers violent disputes over land and boundaries during the farming season.
To tackle this, the command has adopted both early warning mechanisms and a non-kinetic approach by engaging stakeholders in dialogue to resolve disputes peacefully.
“The command continues to closely monitor flashpoints with land and boundary issues, and through this proactive strategy, we are recording encouraging results while remaining vigilant in ensuring the safety of our people,” she said.

So far, 52 suspects have been charged to court, while investigations continue for the others who will soon be arraigned.
