In a horrific incident in Chibok, fourteen mourners were shot dead while holding a third-day prayer for a deceased community leader on Monday evening.

Separately, sixteen commuters, including women and children, died on the same day when their vehicles detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by terrorists near Rann.
The attack on the mourners in Chibok occurred around 6 pm as they gathered for the final prayers. Initially, reports indicated seven fatalities, all men.

However, later updates confirmed the recovery of more bodies, tragically increasing the death toll to fourteen. Several houses in the community were also set ablaze by the attackers.
In a separate incident, an IED believed to have been planted by Boko Haram terrorists exploded near Rann, the headquarters of Kalabalge Local Government Area of Borno State.
The explosion occurred on Monday morning, approximately eleven kilometers from Rann, in a border area near Lake Chad.
The terrorists take advantage of the porousness of Nigerian borders to attack residents freely, and until that is checked, Nigeria is not safe,” – Governor Babagana Zulum, Borno State.
Vehicles traveling to Gamboru Ngala stepped on the device, resulting in the immediate deaths of at least four women, six children, and an unspecified number of men, bringing the total death toll in this attack to sixteen.
Sources from the civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) reported that three other passengers – a child, a woman, and a man – sustained injuries in the explosion and were promptly evacuated to medical facilities in Gamboru Ngala and Rann for treatment.
Kala Balge, the affected Local Government Area, is located in a remote border region near Lake Chad, lacking proper road access and becoming entirely inaccessible during the rainy season.
The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has repeatedly decried the porous nature of Nigeria’s borders, stating that this vulnerability allows Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists to regroup and launch attacks freely on residents.
During a recent visit by a federal government delegation, Governor Zulum emphasized that until the issue of porous borders is addressed, the safety of Nigerians remains at risk.
These latest attacks come just seventy-two hours after terrorists killed fourteen farmers and two CJTF members in border communities of Gwoza LGA.
Additionally, on Sunday, ten Civilian JTF members were killed in ambushes along Hawul in Borno and Garkida in Adamawa while on routine patrol.
