NURTW President MC Oluomo addresses the social media mockery over his “kundusi” remark, emphasizing his lack of formal education but pride in his children’s achievements and his own hard-earned success in the transport sector

The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has responded to the widespread mockery among Nigerians following his mispronunciation of “kudos” as “kundusi.”

In a viral video shared with union delegates on Tuesday, Akinsanya addressed the gaffe, stating that his lack of formal education might lead to occasional errors in English expression.

However, he proudly highlighted the educational achievements of his children, who he stated are now citizens of the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

Recalling his journey, Akinsanya explained that instead of pursuing formal schooling, he entered the transport sector, beginning his career as a bus conductor.

“If you and my children come out to express yourself, I’m not sure you can beat them, they are highly educated. I trained my children properly with money.

My children are citizens of America and the United Kingdom. I worked hard to get there,” he asserted.

Addressing the “kundusi” incident directly, he quipped, “‘Kundusi!’ What happened? Grammars are too much. Grammar won’t finish Nigeria, I might not understand the English language, but I understand Yoruba.”

‘Kundusi!’ What happened? Grammars are too much. Grammar won’t finish Nigeria, I might not understand the English language, but I understand Yoruba,” said NURTW President Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo).

Akinsanya also reflected on his rise within the NURTW, stating, “I started as a bus conductor, then as a treasurer of a unit of NURTW, to unit chairman, to branch deputy treasurer, to branch treasurer, to branch chairman, to state chairman, and then to national president. I worked hard to get here. I am not educated.”

He further questioned his critics, asking, “So they are mocking me for saying ‘kundusi’, is my child not Qudus? You that you are educated, what did you do?”

Akinsanya’s children have previously defended their father against social media criticism regarding his language use.

In 2022, one of his sons, King West, challenged those who labeled his father a lout, emphasizing his father’s care and support.
