Two suspects have been arrested in Anambra over the brutal murder of an 80-year-old woman, with police recovering her stolen motorcycle.
The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in connection with the murder of an 80-year-old woman, Mrs Theresa Igbojonu, in Ihiala, Anambra State.

The suspects, Chidiebere Igboanugo and Emmanuel Ibeabuchi, were arrested after a series of swift investigations and police actions following the victim’s death.

The tragic incident occurred when the suspects allegedly tied the victim’s legs and mouth before killing her. Afterward, they reportedly stole her black CG motorcycle, which was later recovered by the police.
The crime was first reported on April 2, 2025, and an investigation was launched immediately.

According to Anambra State Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Ihiala Divisional Police Station has been working diligently on the case.
“The suspects were arrested after intense investigation, and the stolen motorcycle was retrieved from the scene,” Ikenga stated.
The breakthrough came on April 5, 2025, when Chidiebere Igboanugo was spotted driving the stolen motorcycle near Ezego junction in Ihiala.
This prompted the police to arrest him. During interrogation, Igboanugo identified Emmanuel Ibeabuchi as his accomplice in the crime.
Further investigation revealed that two additional suspects, Alla and Emeka, are believed to have been involved but remain at large.
Following the arrests, the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Awka for a more detailed investigation.
The police have also intensified efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.
SP Ikenga confirmed that the suspects will be charged in court upon the completion of the ongoing investigation.
The police continue to appeal to the public for any information that could assist in the apprehension of the two fugitives.
This case has shocked the local community in Ihiala, with many expressing concern over the rise in violent crimes in the area.
As investigations continue, the police are working hard to ensure justice for the victim and her family.
