Traditional rulers in Umuahia North invoke death on kidnappers during a special prayer session, vowing to protect their community from crime.
Traditional rulers in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State have taken a strong stand against kidnapping, invoking death upon those who perpetuate the crime in their region.
The monarchs performed the invocation on 24 December during a special prayer session aimed at restoring peace and security in their community.

The ceremony, led by Eze Innocent Nwaigwe, saw the royal fathers pour libation, break kola nuts, and use alligator peppers in their declarations.
They proclaimed that any kidnapper terrorising Umuahia North would face severe consequences, including death, unless they repented.
“We have asked the gods to visit kidnappers with capital punishment unless they quit their evil ways,” Eze Nwaigwe stated.
The monarchs also invoked bees to flush out any kidnappers hiding in the bushes of Umuahia North, warning that such criminals would either die or be captured unless they ceased their activities.
In addition to condemning kidnappers, the traditional rulers declared that the local government would experience peace and safety throughout the festive season and beyond.
They prayed for the protection of all indigenes and committed their efforts to ensuring a secure environment.
The monarchs also expressed support for Governor Alex Otti’s administration, praising its efforts in improving security and governance in Abia State.
During the prayer session, they called for divine guidance and protection for the governor and his leadership team.
The bold declarations by the Umuahia North traditional rulers reflect the increasing role of local leaders in addressing security challenges and protecting their communities.
Their proactive approach has been lauded by residents who hope that the prayers and curses will deter criminal activities in the area.
