In order to calm the fears of most Nigerians, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has said that it has more than 25 million litres of petrol to ensure steady supply throughout the festive period, Daily Trust reports.

Isa Tafida, the zonal operations controller of the DPR in Kaduna, at a recent press conference said in the past the country suffered shortages at this period due to disruptions in fuel supply.

Tafida urged the public to do away with their doubts and fear as the department has enough of the product in its reservoir nationwide.

Moreover, the DPR boss in Kaduna advised consumers of the products to report any fuel station engaging in illegal activities and desist from buying fake petrol from roadside sellers as such can damage their vehicles.

Maintaining that the department is working always to ensure smooth operations, Tafida also that the DPR is in full contact and collaboration with all the stakeholders in the downstream sector.

He pointed out that the department is monitoring Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to impose compliance with Standards Operating Procedure (SOP) and ensure the facilities operate perfectly for the safety of lives and properties.

Tafida stressed that the that the federal government is working with key stakeholders to ensure hitch-free supply of petroleum products to the Nigeria despite the uncertainties in the global petroleum market.

Meanwhile, we reported that Nigeria might experience yet another round of fuel scarcity as the country’s two main oil unions had prepared their members for a nationwide industrial action.

We gathered that the workers, who were aggrieved over a dispute with a foreign oil company, made this known on Saturday, September 22.

The oil unions, Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) accused the oil company of plotting to sack thousands of Nigerian workers.
