THE nationwide strike over the minimum wage crisis begins at 12 am on Thursday.

The organized Labour has resolved to start with the commencement of a seven-day warning strike midnight on Wednesday, meaning that all the workers across the country have been directed to stay away from office from Thursday morning.

Early Tuesday morning, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), President, sent messages to all its affiliate unions mandating them to mobilize their members across the country and direct them to start strike on Thursday morning.

Wabba informed all NLC affiliates that despite the 14 days ultimatum issued two weeks ago by the organized Labour, the government has refused to acknowledge their notice

The NLC president also stated that there was no effort to meet labour demands or any official correspondence or dialogue, from the Federal Government.

He directed all the affiliates to issue circulars o their members and state councils for effective notice and mobilization.

The message read: “Good morning comrade, this is to update you on the meeting of organized Labour yesterday in Lagos.

“We reviewed the struggle for the actualization of the minimum wage and the statutory 14 days notice we issued to Government.

“It was observed that The notice had not been acknowledged and there was no effort to meet our demands or any official correspondence or dialogue.

“Accordingly, organized Labour resolved that a 7-day warning strike shall commence nationwide midnight of Wednesday 26th September 2018.

“Labour Centre’s and affiliate unions are requested to issue notice to all their affiliates and state councils this morning. Please treat as urgent.”
