Abducted MD Of Ogba Zoological Garden, Andy Ehanire, Regains Freedom

The Managing Director of Ogba Zoological garden, Mr. Andy Ehanire has been released by his abductors after 21 days of his abduction.
Ehanire, a renowned environmental conservationist, was kidnapped on Sunday 24th of September 2017 while the Edo State Police spokesman, Moses Nkombe, promised that the Police would do all it could to ensure that Dr. Ehanire is freed and unhurt to reunite with his family.
It is unclear if any ransom was paid for his release but THEWILL recalls that the abductors of Dr. Ehanire, who killed three police officers stationed at the Zoo and Nature Park, had on 9th of October, contacted his family, demanding for N350 million as ransom.
Meanwhile, the Police Command in Anambra said it has killed two suspected kidnappers and rescued a victim.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mrs Nkeiru Nwode, made this disclosure on Saturday in Awka while addressing newsmen.
Nwode, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), said the victim, 32-year-old Nnamdi Ibru, was kidnapped on Oct. 11, in a filling station at Obosi, near Onitsha, by four armed hoodlums.
According to her, N20 million was demanded as ransom but the detectives attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the command trailed them as they were coming to collect the ransom on Oct. 13.
“As the hoodlums got to know that they were being trailed, they started attacking the police but two of the kidnappers were killed, while others escaped with bullet wounds,” Nwode said.
“The police command wishes to advise all parents and guardians to take care of the children and watch their activities and report any suspicious movement concerning their wards.
“We assure members of the public of our relentless efforts in making sure that lives and properties of Ndi Anambra are secured.”
The police also recovered items including one locally made barrel pistol with two live cartridges, one- cut- to- size single barrel gun, one XQ 1000 GSM handset belonging to the victim and one Q-link motorcycle.
