Nigerian producer-turned-singer Young Jonn has turned down a collaboration request from rapper Blaqbonez after unearthing a 2015 tweet in which the latter expressed a preference for fellow producer DJ Coublon.
The exchange began when Young Jonn posted on social media: “I need like 5 bad friends way we go dey move in bulk!”
Blaqbonez quickly responded, expressing interest in teaming up: “Oya, make we dey together, sing as one.”
Young Jonn, however, was unimpressed. He shared a screenshot of Blaqbonez’s old tweet and fired back: “Go sing as one with Coublon.”
In the 2015 post, Blaqbonez had openly stated that he preferred DJ Coublon to Young Jonn.
Responding to the rejection, Blaqbonez denied personal responsibility for the tweet, claiming it was posted by his social media handler at the time.
The public exchange has sparked conversations among fans about old social media posts and how they can resurface years later in the music industry.
