Osun Babes Football Club is facing pressure to settle an alleged N15 million outstanding debt owed to Imo Strikers Queens FC over an agreement involving the exchange of a league slot.
Imo Strikers Queens, in a petition signed by its Chairman, Prince Chido Chinedu, appealed to the Osun State Government and relevant football authorities to intervene in the dispute and compel Osun Babes to pay the outstanding sum or agree to a formal repayment plan.
The petition was addressed to the management of Osun Babes FC, the Osun State Sports Council and other relevant authorities, with copies sent to the Osun State Governor, Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Chairman of the Sports Council and the Osun State Football Association.
Imo Strikers Queens maintained that the N15 million was not simply a disputed financial claim, alleging that Osun Babes had acknowledged the debt in writing.
According to documents cited in the petition, Osun Babes Team Manager, Akinbade O. Tope, signed a letter dated December 22, 2025, acknowledging that the club could not meet an earlier payment commitment.
The letter reportedly stated that the outstanding N15 million would be paid by the end of the first round of the 2025/2026 Premier League season and before the commencement of the second round.
However, Imo Strikers Queens alleged that the agreed deadline had passed without payment being made.
The club said it had made previous efforts to resolve the matter amicably but claimed the debt remained outstanding.
It further stated that the unpaid obligation was putting significant financial pressure on the club and affecting its ability to meet commitments to players, coaches and officials.
“We also call on the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to take notice of the dispute and intervene within their respective regulatory powers,” the club stated.
Imo Strikers Queens also requested that any repayment proposal by Osun Babes be submitted in writing and mutually agreed upon by both clubs.
The club gave Osun Babes a 14-day deadline from the receipt of the petition to either pay the N15 million or reach an acceptable written settlement.
It warned that failure to resolve the dispute within the stipulated period could result in further action before relevant football regulatory bodies and competent courts.
