Popular Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, better known as Poco Lee, has reportedly been remanded in a United Kingdom prison over an alleged assault offence.

Poco Lee is expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15, 2026, for a plea hearing in connection with the case.

Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the Nigerian community group in the UK, confirmed the development in an interview with The PUNCH on Monday.

Kuti said Poco Lee is currently being held on remand and is scheduled to appear in court at 10 am on September 15.

According to him, he became aware of the case through his regular attendance at court proceedings and his involvement in supporting Nigerians facing legal challenges in the UK.

“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” Kuti said.

He explained that a plea hearing typically provides an opportunity for an accused person to indicate whether they intend to plead guilty or not guilty to the charge.

Kuti also said he would attend the proceedings to support Poco Lee and ensure that he receives appropriate assistance throughout the legal process.

He urged the public to allow the court to determine the matter, stressing that the dancer remains innocent unless proven guilty.

Poco Lee’s reported detention follows earlier reports that he was arrested in the UK over an allegation of rape.

However, the identity of the alleged victim and specific details surrounding the incident have not been independently verified as of press time.

Reports about Poco Lee’s alleged arrest and detention began circulating on social media on August 19, 2026.
