Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal is likely to miss the rest of the season after sustaining a cruciate knee ligament injury during a 2-0 win against Villarreal.
The injury occurred after a collision with Yeremy Pino, with Carvajal later confirming he requires surgery. Coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed concern, and Carvajal’s absence leaves Lucas Vazquez as the only right back specialist in the squad.
Real Madrid are expected to be without their Spanish international right back Dani Carvajal for the remainder of the season.

Carvajal suffered a serious cruciate knee ligament injury during Saturday night’s 2-0 victory over Villarreal. The injury occurred after a collision with Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino in injury time, with Carvajal clearly in pain as he was carried off the field.
Carvajal later confirmed the severity of the injury through a social media post early Sunday morning. He stated: “Serious cruciate ligament injury confirmed,
I’m going to have to go through surgery and be off the field for a few months.” Despite the setback, the 32-year-old added that he was eager to start recovery and return “like a beast.”
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted his worry for the veteran defender, noting that the team’s intense fixture schedule may have contributed to the injury. Carvajal’s absence leaves Lucas Vazquez as the only right back in Real Madrid’s first-team squad.
The injury also means Carvajal will miss Spain’s upcoming matches against Denmark and Serbia. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente will likely seek a replacement for the sidelined defender.
Additionally, Ancelotti mentioned that Vinicius Jr., who scored Real Madrid’s second goal in the win, sustained a neck injury, making him doubtful for Brazil’s next international games.
